We went out and purchased one of the toilet seats that you just start the closing and it slowly goes down and makes no noise at all. You can find them at home improvement stores, they are not horribly expensive. When we replaced our toilet, the seat that came with it was horrible, moved around every time you sat down and was like a really thin plastic. We replaced it immediately with one that was much better and even fit the toilet better.
We bought a self-closing toilet seat for both our toilets years ago. You can find them at home improvement stores. At first we just bought one when we redid a bathroom, but once we got used to the new seat cover we had to buy a second one because we loved it so much.
Nancy we did the same when we replaced a toilet seat that broke. Picked up a slow closing lid and seat for less then $30 at Lowe's.
Toilet seats are generally pretty inexpensive, you can likely find a self-closing one that’s affordable.
