Make sure you have caulking around the frames of your windows and doors. In the summer keep drapes and blinds closed against sunshine. In cold weather open window coverings on sunny days then keep closed at night and cloudy times. Have proper insulation in your walls and ceilings, maintain your furnace and air conditioning systems regularly. Many more that others can think of for you.

I installed insulative film on my east and west windows. They stop UV rays, too. There are also kits you can get to seal your windows as an extra layer of insulation. You can also replace incandescent lights with energy star ones.

  • Upgrade the insullation in your attic. Make sure all windows and doors are properly sealed with weather stripping. Change light bulbs to more energy efficient versions. Draw drapes or curtains during heat of day to keep interiorcooler. Regularly service your HVAC system and change the filter - I change mine once a month - or opt for one that you just take out and wash.
