The kitchen cabinet doors open about a inch. How do I fix the hinge to hold them shut?

Add a magnetic catch. Sold at any hardware or home improvement center.

As mentioned above, if you cannot "square" the door on it's hinges, add the magnetic catches. I have those on all of my closet doors!
the magnetic catches worked perfectly for me!
check to see if the door is warped, you might can just shim the bottom hing out a little, the kind of door it looks like in picture, were know for warping over time, from the picture it looks like the gap is smaller on bottom than it is on top, hope this helps, goodluck
