What can I do with sunflower stalks?

I just pulled up all my sunflowers and the stalks are nice and solid. I don't want to just throw them in the woods if there's something I can do with them. Any ideas?

I reuse mine as trellises/tri-pod/supports for other flowers/vines/tomatoes in the garden;cut them up with lopping shears and add to compost bin;with the foam like papery inside they make great fire starters/kindling cut into 6" pieces; they would make great textural pieces for a privacy screen (make 2 frames from 1x2 and sandwhich the stalks between them or even to add to picture frames;cut into halves or circles and glue onto frames; if you know how to weave baskets they make really nice splines for huge solid baskets(to hold firewood or even large potted floor plants) ...............hey look what I found looking for craft ideas-- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttpSWk8qSck wow how about this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Q3X2CyKFLo guess others use them for this too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fatkROKdsa8 more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWtR2ACM4yE more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6_OJrSW-9U

Hi B: I just throw mine out as they are hollow and won't last very long. Also, they are a bit prickly. You can compost them or cut them up into small pieces and put them in the bottom of your flower pots. Sometimes there are local places that will use them as mulch.
the stalks can be eaten, similar to celery, as a crunchy snacks or as a carrier for dips and peanut butter!
