How to makeover ugly french doors?

Replacing French doors is expensive and I have very ugly doors, more noticeable from the outside. I still love the sunshine that comes in so do not want to cut out the light. I thought about using outdoor screens but the light would be cut considerably. I live in New Zealand.

I will put a photo up tomorrow. The timber has been painted. They are poorly constructed doors, they were internal. It is the timber as well as the glass. Photo tomorrow.
Paint can hide a lot of ugly. If there are cracks, use a paintable caulk to fill them.
