Hi Mary! There are some gorgeous window films that look like stained glass. Or you could do actual stained glass!
What about a Roman blind. Make it longer than your window but set it above the window to give the look of a larger drop. It would have to be wider to set it outside the window.
Hang sheer full length curtains from the ceiling, all the way down. You can add fairy lights behind them, for some glow! Add a frame around window,( might as well make it pretty) hang crystals in it to refract around room. Maybe add some shelving under the window?
Since you sew, I'd search for a fabulous patterned fabric and make my own lined draperies!
