I recently finished my daughter's bedroom make over and will present the various steps in several posts ( Far too many steps). This window project was SO easy and I love the results...I suffer from "I WANT IT NOW" syndrome and I love projects that provide results... quickly!
This is the only window in her room and pretty boring.. She wanted a cross between a castle/princess/fairy land theme so, I thought, "What does a castle-fairy-princess window look like?"

Inspiration struck and after painting the wall a very sunny yellow, I then opted for a nice dark contrast and painted the entire window with a glossy black paint..

Then, using a fairly narrow ( about 1/2 an inch wide) black craft tape, I made one big diamond shape in the middle of the window using 4 strips of tape. Once I knew the first diamond was fairly even on both sides ( checking each resulting corner triangle for good measure) I then put one single strip of tape starting from the middle of the top of the window to the middle of the right side of the window. Follow this procedure until you've applied a total of four strips of tape to make the diamond grid you see above.

Now's the fun part.. I attached two old shutters that I got at an antique store for $5 bucks, spray painted them a pretty sage green and nailed them directly to the wall!

VOILA! The end result is lovely and quite enchanting.. my next post will be the other pretty touches in this section of the room ! Thanks for looking!

Enjoyed the project?

....when you said that You painted the entire window with black paint...I nearly gasped.
Yes, I knew a minister who painted the entire church window....thinking he could wipe off the paint. The glass had a pebbled finish too. What a mess......for someone else to clean up)ah...I gather that you meant the entire window frame. 🙂 -
