Tongue and groove siding is often put on ceilings. Is that what you recall?
The only wood ceiling I ever put up was bead board planks. Turned out beautiful. Kind of exspensive.
The other product I've used for ceilings was wallpaper - Anaglypta. May want to check it out, amazingly beautiful and cheaper than wood. Home depot sells it. Can paint it or leave it white. It's a foam vinyl.
