Decorating a primative tree
-
Marion Nesbitt on Jan 06, 2016Daughter has a Christmas tree for her man's (hunter/fisherman) man cave. She bought deer and elk ornaments from Cabella's to decorate it as she didn't want to disassemble it after Christmas. Perhaps you could find some jungle animals or such.Helpful Reply

MN Mom on Jan 06, 2016Primitive can include many things especially natural elements. You could try small dried hydrangea blooms, pine cones, even snippets of ribbons tied to some of the branches. I made up a primitive arrangement using all artificial floral pieces , maybe something in it would spark an idea?Helpful Reply

Donna on Jan 07, 2016How about a mixture of natural items (dried seed pods, pine cones) and old kitchen items (cookie cutters, metal measuring spoons, wooden utensils), maybe add some ribbon for more color.Helpful Reply

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Jan 07, 2016For inspiration I would go to a craft store to look at burlap - at Hobby Lobby (even go online and look) they have flowers, birds, and ribbon which can be either rustic or primitive. Walking the aisles of a craft store can inspire and this is what you may need to do.Helpful Reply

Sherry Fram on Jan 07, 2016You can use burlap to make stars or birds. You can use sticks to form stars using raffia to tie them together. You can use wooden shapes that you can find at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Post pictures when you get it decorated!Helpful Reply

Ann on Jan 07, 2016Nothing is more primitive than rusty items. I spray paint plastic garlands with brown paint then sprinkle them with cinnamon while the paint is still wet. Add just a little bit of dry brushing with orange craft paint. You can do this with just about any surface. I have done this to make accessories for my prim Santas. In this photo I've done star garlands in just this way.Helpful Reply
