March in the Foyer

It's time to show our green, and that's just what I'm doing in the foyer. Our entry foyer is tiny, but it sure is a fun place to decorate according to the seasons. And when I mean seasonal decorating, it's just a matter of shopping the house and gathering up like-minded items that say a little something about the season or the holiday. Our holiday in question is St. Patrick's Day, and I pulled out some of the green to make a welcoming entrance for our guests.
To create a green vignette for St. Patrick's Day, I took some green books and an old green tray from the bookshelves in another room. I purchased some green flowers and put them all together on the marble-topped entry dresser.
The green lamps were already there, and even though the greens are totally different hues, they all work together kind of like nature. The green in the colorful antique kilim rug pop when combined with the other greens.
I love that something as simple as some green flowers from the grocery play into the whole plan.
Although I don't know how old it is, the old tole tray is loaded with character and patina, and that's just one more thing that makes the vignette attractive. Please stop by our blog for other decorating tips.
