What You Can Do to an Old Light Fixture With a Few Changes.

This fixture was in our home for about 8 years, we took it down and put it in the basement thinking I was not going to use it again. It sat there for over a year and then when I refinished my hutch in my foyer with the mirror the fixture that was there just didn't complement the area. I didn't want to spend money on a new light so I had this idea with this old light. I had to be sure it would work as the sockets on this fixture were for larger bulbs. So I first bought a few items to try something and I was so excited that my idea was going to work.
BEFORE IT GOT A MAKEOVER!
This is the BEFORE picture of the light, so what I did was I bought new burlap shades at Lowe's and put in chandelier bulbs instead of regular size ones. I put about 3 coats of Rust- Oleum Heirloom white in satin finish and changed the wire out to match it in white. My husband is an electrician so that helps!
This is after, the makeover with the new shades, it gave it a whole new look, the shades I bought from Lowe's were about $8 each and I need 5 and they are in a burlap texture. I love the look of burlap with the color of the light now! This gives it a whole new look in my foyer with my hutch now I am so pleased with how it turned out. It saved me from buying a new light to go in this area.
The color just goes so well with everything !
The ceilings in here around 11 feet!
This was worth spending around $60 to give this light a new look we have high ceiling in our foyer so it really hangs well in there and fills the space up !
