Valerie on Feb 08, 2014What a feast for the eyes!!!! I absolutely love the head collection - are they purchased or home made? Everything in your garden seems to thrive - what are your secrets?

Donna Shipley on Feb 08, 2014@Valerie I am so glad I took pictures, right now so much is dead from frost-bite... still waiting to see what will come back. The heads were from a local drug store. I had hoped they would continue to offer them, but so far there are no new ones this year. Thank you very, very much for your warm words... helps me make it through this unusually cold winter!

Valerie on Feb 09, 2014@Donna Shipley We have heard a great deal about the cold weather in the States - it is difficult to imagine when one is in the midst of a heat wave in this part of the world! Plants are incredibly resilient, and I do hope that many do, in fact, survive. I imagine it must be very difficult for the birds, but then perhaps they are well adapted. Thanks so much for letting us all into your world!

Donna Shipley on Feb 09, 2014@Valerie I live right on the Pacific Coast in Northern California. Our winters are usually fairly mild, lots of rain & a little frost. This year we have had almost no rain until this week and many frozen days. So it is very different, but the daffodils are starting and that always lifts the spirits and reminds us that Spring is truly on the way :)

I love how it looks, you have really devoted time to your garden. I have just started mine, and have decided to go organic. Do you think i can achieve your results if i use organic fertilizers like http://wormtec.com.au/
