Pumpkins make such cute fall decor, don't they? Especially these itty bitty little ones! This pumpkin garland has the cutest tiny pumpkins strung along it. And you can paint them to match whatever fall decor you like to use. All my stuff is the typical autumn color pallet. But I think these would be adorable painted white with a gold stem! Swoon... I might have to make another garland like that. Read on to see how I made mine!
First get a glob of Crayola Model Magic air-dry clay about the size you will want your pumpkin to be. Keep in mind that the clay will shrink a bit as it drys.
Roll that glob into a ball and pierce it with a wooden skewer. Go through each side of the clay ball so that you have nice and even indents on both sides. I used the same skewer to lightly press lengthwise down the sides of the ball to create the curves of the pumpkin. Make as many of these as you would like for your garland, then let them dry completely.
Once they are dry, you can start painting! I did mine in Jack-O-Lantern Orange. Fitting right? You can do them any color you would like. I stuck them on the end of a wooden skewer to make it a little easier. Then to dry them, I put the other end of the skewer in a cup and let them hang out in the air like that for a bit!
After the paint is dry, use a little dab of hot glue and tiny pom-poms to make the stem and leafs.
Isn't that the cutest little clay pumpkin patch you've ever seen?
Now you can string them along whatever you would like to use for your garland. I just used plain white twine. Tie a knot at each end of the pumpkins so they don't slide around after you hang the garland.
And that's it! Now you can hang these little cuties up and enjoy them all season long.
