I already had my sign put together (pieces of wood).
I placed a light coat of white spray paint and then I went back and took my sander and sanded it back down to make it look aged and rustic, so it’s kind of an off white.
Once I had my tracing paper with the phrase written out on it and placed on the pallet, I took a piece of carbon paper and positioned it underneath to retrace over so that it transfers.
That way, it gave me a nice pattern to paint inside of.
I used the metal conduit, which is about ½ or ¾ inches.
Be careful when bending the fork because when you’re putting something under pressure, it could snap. I put the end into the pipe, laid it down on the floor, and then bent the end of the fork over, giving it a nice smooth bend.
Once all 4 of the forks are bent, I measured from the bottom to the top of where the fork is marked. Your measurements may be different than mine, but I measured 6 and ½ inches from the bottom to that point.
I marked each one of these so that the bottom of my hooks will hang at the same length of the bottom of this sign. So, I marked every 4 ½ inches so that all 4 of the forks are evenly spaced along the sign.
The boards were tight enough together that the forks wedged into the crack really snug. But if your board doesn’t work that way, you could add glue or even try letting enough of the fork stick out the back of the sign to put a second bend.
