I have a tapestry stand with wooden handles....purposely made for knitting/sewing/crocheting projects. the inside of the stand has cloth handles, so that you can hang the whole thing up in a closet if you like! It will also stand pretty much closed, for when you are done for the night! It is an older type of solution, but you might find one at a garage sale....or maybe online?? Mine was a gift, and I definitely use it! Hope this idea helps!
