Vintage Shoe Vanity
Another Vanity in my fashion series
I'm going to show you a closeup of damaged veneer. I like to address some of the "Wood People" and "Paint Haters". I'll never understand their need for hostility. After all, it's a piece of furniture, right?
You can see how chipped up,this was. I used elmers wood putty and covered this in KILZ to avoid bleeding From the veneer.
Getting the perfect decoupaged look is never easy. With 1gel, I get minimal bubbles, a better amount of dry time, and a much easier process than when I use the other Modgy decoupage products. Once it was completely dry, and before I antiqued it- I sanded the edges to give the paper a worn and weathered look. You'll see at the end if you stay with me.
Here we are during the process. I will tell you- my loyal fans and followers- that this project was completed during one of the darkest periods of my life. This is not my usual Sunny, witty, light and airy post. Struggled through it and I'm hoping to come out of this period and be able to say "I Survived. I'm still here. I'm still going to create beautiful pieces for my customers to take home and cherish." (Insert prayers please).
Not the best lighting, but I liked this shot. I used an applicator sponge to apply a clear poly over the black top. It avoids that milky look that can happen sometimes!
Here she is with better lighting. Thanks for staying until the end. I have more creations in store so please remember to follow me on Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Well if THAT'S not the cutest thing, I don't know what is!! You did a beautiful job in giving this piece a new life; it's just makes me smile to see it! I hope you are experiencing better days now.
