Yes- you can use wood flooring throughout the whole house and then use rugs to differentiate the rooms and give them their own flavor.
Floating laminate flooring that snaps together is very easy to install.
Laminate is easy to put down but does not last...at all. Corners where and it looses its shine...I did my living room and hate hate hate it
There is new flooring out that looks and feels like wood and does not scratch. Water doesn't ruin it either. A little pricey but in my opinion worth the money. Go to a flooring company and ask about those products. Easy to install but will eat up saw blades due to the hardness and durability of product.
Floating vinyl plank flooring . Looks like wood but won't buckle from the humidity in the bath and kitchen . It's waterproof and more affordable than hardwood , but looks just like it.
