Ever want to create a finish that appears to be one of those old crusty vintage finishes. I demonstrate how to do this, using our Wood Icing® Products on an unfinished frame.
We used the following Wood Icing® Glazing Colors.
Dijon
Envy Green
Tree Bark
Licorice Black.
Stain an unfinished frame or any surface with Wood Icing® Glazing Color "Dijon"
Drop a few drops of Wood Icing® Glazing Color "Tree Bark" randomly onto the surface.
Blot the "Tree Bark spots back, then drop the Wood Icing® Glazing Color "Envy Green randomly then wipe it back.
This is the look of the multi colored glazing colors blotted back and dry.
Lay a piece of lace over the frame. Then randomly apply our Wood Icing® Textura Paste over the top of the lace.
While the Textura Paste is still wet, remove the lace and allow this to dry. You can speed up the dry time with a dryer. Lightly sand over the top of the paste to remove any loose particles of the Textura Paste. Dust away and proceed.
Lightly go back over the dried and sanded lace pattern with Wood Icing® Glazing Color "Dijon".
Drop Wood Icing® Glazing Color "Tree Bark" randomly. brush on and wipe back. I followed with the same procedure using Wood Icing® Glazing Color "Licorice" to create a very dark finish.
I dropped droplets of clear water, randomly over the finished glazing colors.
I let the water stand a while (or what is also known is to cook on the surface) in order to remove the dark color down to the base color. This is what I hoped would give that water damaged look to this finish.
I did the same process with the "Envy Green" Glazing Color then wiped it back for the appearance of a Green Patina.
While the glazing colors were still drying, I sanded over the top of the raised lace pattern to bring them out and be more prominent.
This is what it looked like after randomly sanding back the raised lace relief.
Then I rubbed a dirty brush with a little of the "Tree Bark" glaze over the sanded area. This was done to blend it all together.
I applied one coat of our Poly-Acrylic Satin, as a protective coating for this frame.

This is the finished Frame. What do you think? Does this resemble a crusty old water damaged lace to you?
