I recently repurposed a narrow long basket . I bought (on sale with coupons) some fake succulents in little pots and placed in the basket. I then used green foam laying around to anchor them and some moss (I already had) to disguise the foam. It looks adorable and my husband said, good job but aren't they going to die inside the house because he thought they were real.
A few years ago I had a going away party for an elderly neighbor who was moving out of our neighborhood. I invited all the women who lived nearby (we have only about 20 or so houses) I made this simple centerpiece. IMHO table centerpieces and mantel arrangements should change often. This was soup bowls I had, dirt, moss from my yard, impatiens. Right now I have a large wooden tray (free from town swap shop) and on it a little pagoda (also free from SS) and a pair of candles in candle sticks. The easiest thing is to have candles in candlesticks and take it from there. These arrangements are among my favorite things to do, so I find it a lot of fun.
