See PINTEREST AS THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF HYDRANGEARS THAT REQUIRE DIFFERENT PRUNING TIMES.
Different varieties need to be pruned at different times. If you don't know what kind you have, prune after they flower, do not prune in the Spring when they are producing wood where the flower will bloom later.
Have you pruned it back too hard.. Some Hydrangeas only flower on old wood, and some just flower on new wood.. Maybe you have the one that flowers on old wood that you have cut off - It will however come back next year if this is the case.. Personally I never cut mine back at all, I leave them year after year, and they are covered in flowers..
I had flowers last year and did very minimal pruning (short stem deadheading) but had no flowers this year. I wonder if it might be because we had a very warm spell for a while in late winter/early spring, and then a hard frost. I suspect that could have killed the new buds. Will wait and see what next year brings.
acid based fertilizers should help. The more acidic your soil the more blue the flower should get
Try using coffee grounds after you brew it
