Spray painting is a quick and easy way to update the look of your furniture. Whether positive or negative, most people have had some sort of experience using spray paint. Let's face it...it's not as easy as you think to get the professional look you expect - there is an art to it. These professional tips will teach you how to paint furniture in a fraction of the time.
Using a drill, remove all of the hardware
I chose to also remove the decorative scrolling. Don't worry, I will use it for something else but I want this table to take on a more modern look.
Now I have a clean slate to work with.

Using 220-grit sandpaper, lightly scuff the surface and wipe clean with a degreaser/deglosser (this one is my favorite)
Starting at the bottom, lightly spray moving up the piece of furniture. It's better to apply several light coats than one heavy coat.

Tip: To avoid runs, always spray from the bottom to the top

Let dry and hour between coats. Let dry 2-3 hours before adding hardware.
Once it's completely dry, replace hardware.
Voila...in a couple of hours you have completely transformed a piece of furniture!
