I have fruit flies and can't get rid of them. I don't even have any food or fruit out.
Where are the fruit flies. Plants? Kitchen? Different solutions for different infestations.
I like the old-fashioned fly strips in the round container with a tack at the end. Just don't hang it where your head can hit it.
Get a Venus Fly trap. They eat flying insects of all kinds. That is there purpose.
If you have a bottle of old wine, put some in a small glass. Use about 1 tablespoon of wine. Put clear plastic wrap over the glass, and poke several small holes, maybe with a letter opener. The holes must be small for the fruit fly to get in, but can't get out. Make at least 2-3 on the kitchen counter, spread it out. You must be patient, and wait till they go in. Put an elastic band around the glass to keep the plastic taunt. Apple cider vinegar can be used as a second choice. Good Luck!
You can try this vinegar trick :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWR-ZcsZKnQ
place bowls of apple cider vinegar covered with saran wrap, poke holes in the plastic and place throughout the house
I use an empty beer bottle with just a drop of beer in the bottle. Put near fruit, in the morning fruit flies are gone. Look inside the bottle. Its amazing how it works.
I left my vacuum near my counter in the kitchen where I put my fresh picked tomatoes and everytime I saw a fruit fly I vacuumed it in and checked to see if there were any more. My tomatoes are there but I haven't seen any flies in 2 days! I guess I got them all.
Fill a microwave-safe bowl with apple cider vinegar and a few drops of dish soap. Microwave the bowl so the mixture becomes even more aromatic. Leave the bowl out uncovered as fruit fly bait. The soap will reduce the surface tension, causing any fruit fly that lands on the surface to drown. Now, if what you have might be drain flies...if that is what you have try this: Boil some water on the stove and pour down your drain several times a day for about a week or Mix 1/2 cup salt, 1/2 cup baking soda and 1 cup of vinegar and then pour the mixture down the drain, leaving it overnight. In the morning, pour boiling hot water down the drain.
If a drain fly infestation lasts longer than 20 days despite different approaches to get rid of them, then it’s time to call a professional exterminator.
