Clean, neat, tidy well maintained home.
Get rid of any weeds around the House, Plant some flowers. Or flowering baskets if you want it easier. Don't have any clutter around the house. Put a few garden statues out there that make it look welcoming.
paint the front door
Get the CLUTTER out! and Clean, Clean, CLEAN! Then refresh the paint.
Make it neat and clean. Even though your house may not be perfect, neatness and cleanliness shows it was cared for. Remove yard ornaments and clutter, trim bushes and overgrown trees. If you don't have flowers, add a large pot of annuals to your porch or stairs for a pop of color.
Make the yard and entry way clean and neat as a pin. Buyers drive up, then stand in front and at the front door, looking around. So that means your yard has to be weeded and raked, grass cut (and edged, if that's what's customary where you live) shrubs trimmed, and entryway/doorstep must be clean, front door and any railings freshly painted, nice-looking porch light and doorbell, get rid of cobwebs, have nice house numbers, and a new, or recently scrubbed, welcome mat. Add some seasonal flowers or potted plants.
Basically, you don't want to give them any negative thoughts before they get inside! A neighbor was selling their house, the house was a nice house, but it looked messy outside, and some buyers didn't even go in--they would just drive up and then leave.
Neatly mowed and raked yard, no debris (bikes, toys, trash cans, etc.) laying around. Plant live flowers, trim shrubs. Clean, sweep sidewalk and driveway; get rid of oil stains. Paint front door a happy color, place a nice door wreath and clean windows. Be sure the mailbox is in nice order. Lastly, I'd fly the US flag!
The front door is first - make it standout and welcoming. The second is usually cutting back overgrown uninteresting shrubs and planting some annuals that will give color to the area.
