Try using goof off or wd 40 to loosen it then a plastic scrapper
Try goof off prior to other things so you don't ruin the finish. Have you tried soaking it in hot water, leaving it wet for a long period of time?
As the padding is so old, so is the lino. BE CAREFUL as most linoleums that old have asbestos in it. That is ok as long as you don't break the "seal" it's encased in.
"Many types of vinyl flooring manufactured before 1980 contained asbestos."
"For lab work, a sample analysis averages $25 to $75."
You could try an iron get the linoleum warm. I used this method to get an old linoleum floor up that was glued down. Took my iron med. heat and move it in circles a little at a time . Took a while but got it up, what was left of the glue used waxed paper and ironed some more. Hope this might help you .
