it depends on how the apartment is laid out, If you are asking what style to go with as far a furnishings, Mid century would fill the space but its design is more streamlined so takes up less space and can be found in many colors. Google mid century design. You may not like it, but if done right it has an airy feel to it, but a finished look.

From personal experience, I can tell you to get some plastic "snap together" shelves and keep things off the floor. Use fold up furniture when you can, and fold down tables are great, too.
Make every piece of furniture that you can do double duty. Hope these help. My place is only 24 square feet bigger than yours.

Tough size constraint... I had a 230 sq ft studio once.. but it had a 10 ft ceiling. I looked UP.
I'd make full height shelves... anchor Firmly to the wall and mount cabinets at the Top(!) and bookshelves below... then place seasonal storage in the cabinets.
You'll need a good stepladder for this... if you like it.

They're a bit pricey, but have you considered a Murphy Bed? I saw one on Costco's website (you needn't be a member to look!) that when in the closed position has a desk on its front; when you pull the bed down, the stuff on the desk remains in place!
