How to Remove Popcorn Ceilings in 30 Minutes
No easy way. You cover or remove everything in the room, spray the ceiling with warm water, then scrape off, trying not to damage the drywall underneath. Here is a link that will help: http://www.diynetwork.com/how-to/rooms-and-spaces/walls-and-ceilings/how-to-remove-a-popcorn-ceiling
My first try was a dry scrape. I don’t recommend it. Scratched the Sheetrock behind it and made a huge mess. I did find a new way at Lowe’s. It has a stick handle so I didn’t have to stand on a ladder. It also has a plastic tray attached that caught the popcorn as I scraped it. And it allowed you to use a spray bottle filled with water. So.... spray a small area first and wait a few minutes then scrape what you sprayed. I still covered the floor with brown paper before I started. that way you can just throw the paper away when you are finished. ( first Time I used a drop cloth, not great unless you want to throw it away too. Paper was cheaper! Good luck! So worth it when you are done😉
Yup, spray it down with water and get to scraping, it is a messy, nasty job. However, they do make Styrofoam ceiling tiles that you can glue up over it if that's something you would rather do.
There is no easy way. Go to You Tube.com for video "how to" instructions. If you can't find it there go to Family Handyman.com
We did it in our home because it was getting old looking and is hard to paint. I really love mine (it's only in the dining room) because I also have sparkles in it. It makes me feel happy so we replaced it. To take it down, put up plastic sheets from the ceiling to the floor, then cover the floor, as well. We sprayed ours with a spray bottle and warm water, let it soak in then just scraped it off. It was time consuming but I didn't think it was that much actual work because it came down easily. I recently read where someone used fabric softener in their water to take down wallpaper. If I have to take it down again I would add that to the water.
There is no easy way. Encapsulate room in plastic drop clothes, spray areas with warm water and a garden sprayer, wear a hat and paper suit, scrape it off, Now I have seen guys rig a shop vac to the handle of the scraper so the droppings go into the shop vac. Give a light sand, prime and paint when dry.
Pe careful about Styrofoam Tiles as they might be a Fire Hazard.......
Sorry, sweetie, there is not an easy way -- unless you consider hiring someone else to do it. All the suggestions above are correct. The only other consideration is to drop the ceiling down an inch and recover it with drywall.
