Start with one room at a time, make piles of keep and donate,or sell.trying to do it all at once will be extremely overwhelming.Once the clutter is gone again focus on the important rooms one at a time
Can you post photos? Or give us an idea of what needs to be changed?
If you aren't sure what you want to get rid of and/or keep, I would go through magazines or online images and decide on a color palette and theme for each room. Maybe even just do one room at a time. Then, based on what you want for that room, you can more easily decide what stays and what goes.
keep what fits the space nicely, and the objects that have a sentimental connection. so and so made this.. i'm keeping it. the "it" in my case would be the grandmother clock grandfather made. don't follow the trends, unless your putting a place up for sale. if you wear a lot of red...maybe a red accent wall.
Everyone is right, make your lists/piles, find pictures of rooms you like and try to imitate. You can checkout some ideas on Pinterest just put in what you are searching for. Good luck, I know you will do great, one space st a time. 👌
While making piles to keep, also make piles for kids. Tell them come and get it or say good bye. Do Not keep stuff for others, only keep what you LOVE. I am in a similar situation, house bound and too many craft projects and ideas. I need to thin it out too.
