There's really only one way........You cannot have rain splashing on your door...purchase or build a top to cover your door. Put several coats of paint on your door....especially on the lower one foot. Good Luck
Caulking.
Check your hardware store and look for the rubber threshold piece that attaches to the outside of the bottom of the door. It is angled so that the water should run off naturally. It is like putting a tiny canopy on the bottom of the door.

May sure you have adequate guttering over this door and then get proper weatherstripping for the bottom of the doors. If you have kids or pets going in and out of this door, you want to make sure you have a proper mat to take care of dripping...and make sure a wet mat is not left on the floor!
Yes, it should work as the canopy part is made out on rubber and will give a little. Most doors do open inward and I have this on mine. Hope this helps!!
