Our awesome art and DIY group on Facebook had launched a contest in February; Flip your piece, and show us the results ! Teresa ROCKED her chair make over !
Here is my February Flip.
I brought this little rocker home from my 98 yr old  grandmother's 4 years ago with the intention of reupholstering it. Then watched many videos about chalk painting fabric.  Velvet was not recommend. But all I had to loose was the cost of the phone and my time.
So I gave it a try, and I love the result!.
I removed the awful skirt in that groovy 70's velvet fabric.
With a spray bottle of water I wet down the entire chair.  Very wet. Then painted it with Miss Lillian's no wax chalk paint in Willow Dream. I diluted it and put in a spray bottle. (About 1 oz water to 4oz. Paint) and sprayed small ,say 1' areas and worked it into the wet fabric with a chip brush. Let dry over night.
Before the 2nd coat I sanded all of the fabric. This time I dampened the chair again with water( because I was using velvet) and brushed in another diluted coat. Repeat one more time. Sanding between coats. I did 3 coats diluted. With a smooth fabric use undiluted for 2nd and 3rd coats.
On to the wood work. I lightly sanded with 220 sand paper , all of the old Maple.
Wiped clean then glazed with Miss Lillian's Truffle antiquing glaze. Lightly wiping back the glaze.
When dry I sealed with Miss Lillian's Satin Luster. Added a new trim in beaded ribbon.
I love her new coastal cool update!
