Is it safe to replant peony?
I've heard it might be tricky. Is it true? What is the best way to that? It's this year's plant. No flowers yet.
You can plant the tulips in the ground, but it’s unlikely they will bloom again this year. Pull the plants out of the pot and look for tubers (bulbs). These become tulips, maybe later this year. If there are none present, but there are roots, the greenery will live all summer. If the plants live through the winter, you might have more tulips next year. ☺️
this will not rebloom until next year, keep them inside until you can get them planted in the ground.dig the hole twice the size of th pot and plant as soon as your area is dig gable
Don't let it dry out completely or sit in a puddle of water. Sip the spent flower off the Mother Plant. You will be left with a few green leaves. Place in a bright spot so the leaves are able to re-fed the bulbs, this gets them ready to bloom next year. Do not plant outdoors until frost season is over. Plant in a sunny spot but not baking hot in the summer months.Dig the hole one and a half times wider than the bulb, a little deeper than the tulip pot it was in. Mix the soil with some fresh compost or garden soil,1/3compost to 2/3 native soil for a good mix. Cover the bulb but leave the majority of leaf exposed above the ground level, tap dirt down firmly move dirt among the leaves so plant is covered equally. Water gently. Later on the leaves turn yellow and a little dry snip off about 1" above the ground. The bulb is now resting and growing a root system. Remember to water and the bulb should pop back up next spring. I cover mine with leaves before the first frost. They will actually poke up through the leaves when the temperature gets warm. Good luck and hopefully come next spring you will see a tulip surprise blooming for all your effort.
Plant them outside - they might bloom again next year.
Yes a friend gave me a pot of small tulips several years ago....they looked lovely but they have a naturally short bloom time in very early Spring. So outside my front door they went...The lovely sword like leaves look wonderful for couple months and still present a good plant in the landscape...but as summer heat arrives these leaves will brown and wither so it is time to cut them down to the ground level and cover them with pine bark mulch which we have over the front beds...then just wait until next Spring they will be back fuller and beautiful!
I have, but I live in CA. I let them wither. Then repot, toss in a corner and keep watered a bit over the long hot summers. Then they come up whenever they please. I had some that bloomed in the middle of December one time. I lose a lot of bulbs to the squirrels so for me it is always a surprise when they bloom. Admittedly, I am not very fastidious about their care, but it can be done.
Yes plant them outside and next year they will bloom year after year
Thank you guys!!!!
