What is you question?
If your asking how to remove contact paper. Use a heat gun tool (like hair dryer only hotter) I use a plastic spatula, less sratch damaging.
If your asking should you cover counter with contact paper. Why not?
Contact paper requires a skillful application. Not going to wear like Formica, would look nice for a while. Best wishes Johandi

I wouldn't use contact paper on counter tops
Contact paper to cover a full kitchen’s counters may cost $40. New countertops will cost somewhere between $400-3000, depending on many style factors. Best wishes ☺️
I put contact paper on my counter tops when we rented and it was a huge improvement over the faded scarred formica. It lasted over a year and peeled easily when we were ready to move.
