I had some canvas wall pictures that I tried to paint over to give a new look. It just wasn’t doing it for me so I decided to try something else. I love the look of burlap and had some leftover from my cafe curtains. My husband got me a Cricut to make my own designs. So here is my makeover of some much needed canvas art. Hope you enjoy.
Here is the before of the pictures I tried to spruce up with paint.
Even though the flowers were better then the outdated scene that I covered over.
Like I mentioned I had some burlap leftover from another project so the price was perfect. Make sure to press the fabric to get all creases and wrinkles out.
When I realized that you could see image behind burlap I used some beige fabric in between canvas and burlap to cover up the image behind burlap. Mainly because I didn’t want to take the time to repaint the canvas a beige before putting burlap over canvas.
I laid out burlap and used a chalk pencil to outline where canvas would be placed to make sure it was centered and straight.
Make sure to remove picture hanger before attaching burlap, mark the holes so you can easily reattach picture hanger.
I have to say that I obviously am not a professional framer but really who is going to see the back. The hardest part for me was being a newbie with my cricut and making, cutting and applying my iron on image was a new challenge for me. Make sure to fold corners first before stapling. Trim excess fabric and wala.
After all edges were stapled down and I reattached the picture hanger here is the finished project.
I didn’t want to use words just and image that I like. After this I will never throw away and ugly old picture, I will recycle it.
I love how they turned out. I do have to admit that I hung in hallway for picture because now I need to paint living room white to make them pop.
