Can I cover penny tiles in my bathroom without removing them?

Be prepared for a major mess. It should scrape off fairly easily with a wide putty knife, then sanding it smooth. Cover all the furniture to contain the mess. Sometimes you have to dampen the ceiling, but not always. Good luck!

You have to sand and sand with a drywall sander/screen until the ceiling is smooth. It's hard work because it's over your head--but it can be done.
Moisten the ceiling with spray bottle with water, scrape with wide putty knife until gone. Be sure to empty the room and cover the floor with taped down plastic before you start then roll up the debris inside the plastic and toss. Be sure to wear a hat and coveralls or old clothes as they will be covered with debris.

There are long handled scrapers with “catch bags” attached to help capture most of the popcorn as it falls. Handy but I bet it gets heavy to hold up fairly quickly. Please post your project!! 😃
