Nightstand Table Makeover

This was a real quick makeover. I picked this up at local orphanage boutique. They sell items that are donated to help run the program. They open a new store. I wanted to purchase a few items to support the kids. This is a solid wood dovetailed night table made by The Davis Cabinet Company in Nashville Tennessee it says its Teakwood. There was some damage to the top, so I painted it. I didn't see it was teakwood till I already started, or I might have tried to refinish it and keep in its original condition. Let’s get started I'll show you how I did it step by step.

This is what I had to work with. The before picture
Next I took out all the drawers and removed all the hardware
Then I used a damp cloth to wipe the entire night table down.
I grabbed my brush and Blackberry House paint. I used the color Warm Milk.
Next I covered the entire night table with the Warm Milk paint. Most of the paints cover in one coat. However, if you find you need a second coat, wait on the first coat to dry fully before applying the second coat. In normal weather and humidity conditions you can expect the paint to dry in less than 15 minutes.
I wanted a heavier coverage, so I applied a second coat
then had to take all the piece to the backyard because I always paint inside but I was going to distress it and I can't sand in the house! I
I then used 80 grit sandpaper on my sadder and lightly went around the edges and all over the night table to distress it.
It was looking good I prefer a lighter distress. However, you can distress it to your liking.
After I had the whole thing distressed, I used Finish wax by Blackberry House. Rub that on with a sponge and buff, you can then put back on all your hardware.
I then like to give my furniture a more finished look, so I lined the drawers with some inexpensive contract paper. I found these rolls at the dollar tree.
One roll did all my drawers
After that I was all finished.
Look how nice and finished it looks inside and out.
Here it is all done and staged. I used it under my TV, I think it turned out so nice! Its super natural and could be used in many places. I hope you try to take an old piece of furniture and give it life. Thanks for viewing my project!

I LOVE this! Was the paint you used anything like chalk paint? I can't wait to try this to see how it works out! (I'm not the most artistic person in the world!) lol

You used 1/2 jar, but what size? Also how do you distress something? I am new to all of this but love Hometalk.com!
