Oh dear, it happens. See if these help. Get ready to clean the house from top to bottom, continuously for a few months.

I spray the perimeter of my property and base of my house with vinegar once a month. Needs to be reapplied after every rain event. It does help.

It sounds like you allow your pets a lot of outside access to get these pests on them...flea shampoo and baths will help...flea collars can be dangerous for them, especially sensitive cats...so I would not put them on them...as for fleas already inside and on your carpets, a lot of vacuuming is needed then then dispose of the bag in your outside garbage bins...there are products to spray on carpets but again you must remove the animals and people from the house or they can become very sick...ask at your local Petco or PetsMart for help with this...
Hello Donna, I have a cat and two dogs I would get the Adams spray and spray around the house where they lay, animals beds and also if you get Adams please read on bottle for the size of the dog and it does stink, but the best thing I've found for fleas. It works great. When spraying animals spray the belly, sides and back, spray hands and wipe on dog. As for the cat, well it you might have another set of hands. Have a great day.
Hi Donna,
My cat and dogs both had fleas last year. The 1st time for us. I used apple cider vinegar straight up, and bathed them outside. The fleas just fell off them while I washing them. Plus It 's makes their skin and fur so soft. I also used the apple cider vinegar on the carpet and furniture. I do use half water and half vinegar in a spray bottle. Then I make sure to have the vet give us the flea and tick dip, to put on directly after. It worked for us!
The key to getting rid of the fleas is full coverage and persistence... treat the yard, treat the house, bathe and/or treat the pets..
REPEAT the treatments at least once.. in 7 days.. or more, 7 days after that...
Scott's turf builder can help keep them away one you have sprayed or treated the lawn... and it will help the lawn too... but don't forget to treat the area around the house that are not grass too... fleas like sand too.
Try using 20 Mule team Borax... shake onto carpets and brush in...leave 7 days and vacuum out.. (put half of a flea collar in the vacuum bag or bin) very well... treat all soft furniture... I have sprayed some of the chairs... wrapped in plastic sheeting for 7 days... then steam cleaned it.... wash ALL beading yours and the pets....use the hottest water the materials will tolerate... If you have a really bad infestation... call an Exterminator or be prepared to use the bug bombs, treat, wait 7 days and repeat, etc.
Check with your vet. They all have a prescription spray (not cheap) that kills fleas and eggs on contact. I have never used it on carpet but I am sure it would work. We get a lot of strays where I live (i think drop offs) and always try to rehome them. They almost always come with fleas so I use the spray on them before I let them come in contact with my animals
