How about planters along the fence? You look like you live somewhere arid and hot, so maybe drought tolerant plants. You can even use cinder blocks.

You have so many amazing things happening in your backyard Mo. Kara is right planters would work really well and if you're in a hot arid region try planting a whole bunch of different succulents - http://www.serenitysecretgarden.com/step-by-step-guide-to-planting-a-stunning-succulent-garden/

Thanks for posting all the pictures. It really helps to understand your situation. It looks like you have 3 separate seating areas. What about enlarging the one next to the house and combing the furniture on the others? If you could have something growing on the fence, that would give interest and movement. Your yard should be encircled visually and not just actually with the fence (I don't know your average temp. in Palmdale) Since you have so much room, why not a water feature? Circulating water would cool things and maybe give children a play space and anyway every yard needs one. I love the bowling alley! I won't suggest grass as you would have that if it were possible. Good luck! p.s. visit garden centers just to see how they arrange things, also hotels and other commercial bldgs to get landscaping ideas.
you need to add color.pot up containers based on your hardiness zone, add garden decor, solar lights, hang a wind chime
You could add curtains...sheets work well and tie around the posts which will soften that area.
I have sheer curtains, any suggestions other than using mulch? Something cost effectiv?
I get free mulch from the tree trimming companies who are glad to unload it and not pay dumping fees - do you have the energy to push a truckload of mulch? Get kids to play in it and mush it around! Shipping pallets can be up-cycled in many ways, Google it.
I like green. So, I would put in some shrubs, both evergreen and flowering, to break up the fence. I also like a water feature like a pond or waterfall. And a fire pit for sitting around and roasting marshmallows.
Yes! Are you located in the AV area?
Planters around the fences could add brightness and a place for dwarf citrus trees... or a vegetable garden... trellises with bougainvillea or colorful vines... here are some ideas
The horse troughs are reasonably priced $90 for the 2 ft tall X 2 ft deep X 4 ft long ones... good for small trees and lots of other stuff... and movable if you tip the dirt out onto a tarp
I love this! TY!
It seems to lack greenery. Bamboo grows quickly and spreads. Attracts birds.
Many don’t fully realize what a great treasure a backyard can be. It can serve as the ultimate recreational zone, capable of freeing us from our everyday routine. So why not create a personalized oasis in your backyard on a budget? We recommend implementing comfy outdoor seating, water elements, and paved trails to boost its design. All of these can be accomplished on a budget DIY style. Building a gazebo for quality family time is a more expensive way to make an impression on your guests. A fire pit is an essential ingredient for parties and barbecues. For hot summer days, we advise you to put umbrellas and pergolas in your yard to create cooling zones and fend off sunburn.
