DIY Herb Garden

I bought this iron door at a yard sale. When I got it home, I thought it would be the perfect back drop for our herb garden this year.
I have had some galvanized buckets lying around that I already had painted chalkboard tags on so I knew they would be the perfect "pots" to plant the herbs. All I did was dill some holes in the bottom of them and then added a little mulch, compost and the herbs. I wrote the herb name on the buckets too (who wants to grab cilantro when they need mint? ;-))
Viola! We now have a great herb garden! I love the way it turned out. I will be adding a 5th bucket, but when I went to buy the herbs, they were all out of dill.

Patricia Clark on Mar 25, 2015Great idea. I'm also thinking this type of door would also make a great trellis for roses or morning glory or other type of vine.
