I'm being inundated with ants. Help!
We live in an old trailer that has no gutters, and no insulation. My husband does all he can, but we are at our wits end! What can we do? 😫

They hate Cinnamon, Chalk and Boric Acid. If you sprinkle talk around, they hate that too. Here are a few things to try.

I have always found ant traps work the best. They are available everywhere --hardware stores, home improvement. Check to make sure you are buying the correct size, for larger ants this is important. They are relatively safe, still you want to put them where pets and children can't reach them. Behind the refrigerator, in the back and under the sink.
Hi DMK, Terro ant baits work great! Within 48 hours, they are pretty much all gone. Also, and I know this is going to sound crazy, but when I was living in a camper in NC, I sprinkled comet around the areas I saw they were coming in. I created a barrier, and they would not cross the comet! You will have to reapply if it rains. "Do Not Use Comet If You Have Pets"!
Good luck!
Get boric acid from a pharmacy (might need to order it), mix some with corn syrup. Place in throwaway bottle caps around the kitchen where the ants are seen. They will eat and broadcast the location of the food source to other ants. The ants will go to their nest and share the food with other ants. Boric acid is a slow killer and in a week or two will have killed all ants in the nest.
Thank you, but my ant problem is more severe than that. They have congregated around the top half of my windows in almost every room! I've tried soaking a cloth and dipping it with boric acid, and hanging it near the problem areas. Also tried chalk all around the window frame. Even sprayed ant killer around. Nothing is working! But thanks for your quick response. I truly appreciate it.
Hi DMK,
I use packaged cornbread mix that says it is sweetened and put it where they are. They will take it to the mound, everyone will eat it and die, they can't digest the cornmeal, but will take it because it is sweetened. Little goes a long way.
What if you make a barrier around the house?
I did some research, since we know what works for one person doesn't always work for another. I found this site and it's pretty informative. I know some tips you may not be able to use but there are some good ones also that will hopefully help.
