Debby. We have shingles. .always blowing off. I have seen tin roof . I think they are pretty. .my neighbor has a tin roof. .I would look up and get some review on both. .I am sure the tin is pricey. .would love it myself can't afford. It .our shingles were guaranteed twenty years. .after twenty years is over and all that sun. .you need new ones. .Good luck on your new roof. .
Debby...We like shingles...many times tin will leak around nails/screws after a while I understand.
With the hailstorms in Texas, we have had to get a new roof once in 13 years, so now we have another guarantee plus insurance. A replacement shingle roof is 1/4-1/3 the cost of tin. But our preference would be a good tin roof. ☺️
Metal roofs are more expensive but usually have a 50 to 60 warranty. They don't require as much of a pitch. They'll last through just about anything. And if they're installed properly (as with any roof), you don't have leaks. I know people who have and love them. Shingles blow off during heavy winds where the metal roofs stay put. And snow slides right off without any problem.
