I started with one of those silly Paint Night things and loved it! After doing 3 of them I took up an art class (no real talent) and I LOVE IT
I have found it to be soothing. Might be that you are focusing your attention on something other then your problems.
Yes! It does work! For me, when I was younger, sewing was my happy place. Actually anything art and craft, building, painting - something creative. Does not matter if you think you are good or bad, there is no right or wrong. Just try a few easy things until you stumble over something that excites you. Right now my obsession is adult coloring books! I have literally done hundreds of pages. No clue what I am going to do with them, but it is still fun!
sure does.....I do all sorts of art from painting, drawing to crafts...I just finished a primitive outside dragonfly
Doing art feeds your soul. Talent or not it makes you happy and if it truly makes you happy , you can't live without it. I started my art career as a way to have something to do with my time when I got stuck in a wheelchair and could no longer do my regular job. Now I have evolved into a working fine artist who sells all over the place and got into art jewelry when I hit a slow period for paintings I've had my art class do an Abstract once by throwing water balloons filled with paint at a 20' piece of canvas on a fence, They had a blast , the canvas was cut into pieces and stretched, then sold in the class gallery, Went like hot cakes. It was great. So enjoy your art and THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.
Art and crafting can relieve stress. The big thing is to find the kind of crafting you like to do that makes you feel happy, one that makes you feel confident, it's natural and easy for you. Sometimes it takes some trial and error to find the one that will be a good fit. There are so many things - painting, coloring, repurposing, upcycling, thrifting, etc.
I think it depends on each person and what they enjoy doing. Anything that you find joy in can help relieve stress. For me, that happens to be painting. :)
I have already started painting and its like magic.... i am loving to paint. Thanks all of you for answering and Thanks to ilovediyart.com for the painting.
