Who says being square is not cool! This are so cool and YES they are square!! The new shape of pumpkins this season and with this updated version I predict this will be a new trend at least for me!!
I just love my new pumpkins I made from scrap wood pieces!!
I hardly had to cut these pieces, I think only two or three pieces! I used the mitre saw to even out a few so they would stack right and to cut the stick I used as stalks!
I sanded down all the wood and stalks, then used wood glue between the pieces and for the stalk too!
Finished!!
Now for staining! I love Unicorn SPiT! Mix some red with yellow and you get orange!! I water down the mix until I get the color I want. The medium sized pumpkin should be a bit lighter in color, should have used a little more yellow but I still love the results!
White SPiT!
I decided to add some leaves and the curly vines with some twine around the stalk. I used floral wire in brown and green and wrapped the wire around a thick paint brush to get the curly vine look! This is so easy to do!!
Next I added some orangey leaves...
by hot glueing some wire to the backs of a few leaves!
I wasn't sure what I was going to use to tie off the leaves and curly vines but I really think the twine will look best
I have 2 different colors I will use!
White pumpkins finished!!!!
Fire orange and light orange finished!!
All of them will be displayed falling out of a fruit basket with some square wood apples in Granny Green and Golden Apple!!! Fall fruits falling out of a fruit basket I made for Fall! I'll post the apples really soon!! They are so cute!!
This was such an easy project and look at the results I got with some scrap wood! I'm so glad I don't throw things away!
Any questions or comments are always welcomed and thanks for looking at the new trendy square pumpkins!!
