A new Welcome mat that you painted a custom saying/their last name is a good one. Plants with a hand painted planter are also nice. A homemade wreath or handmade bird house would also make great gifts.
Hey Jean...you might just fix a nice basket with some coupons for quick meals...a soup starter...labels with new address...just a few ideas. They will be very busy settling in & those were things that might come in handy until things settle down a little.
We use to make a wreath for the door with a horseshoe on it for good luck. Always make sure putting the shoe so that it looks like a u . That keeps the good luck from never running out.

Hi Jean,
You could get them a houseplant and put it in a flower pot that you decorate yourself. Or buy them a birdfeeder at the craft store and paint it yourself. Include birdseed with the gift so they can hang it up right away. If you sew, make them a potholder set or a tablecloth and matching napkins and/or placemats. I like to give people things that are both useful and personal
