How do I make French doors more private?

I teach piano in my home. The only thing that separates my teaching room from the family room is a set of French doors. My family has no privacy and my younger students are distracted by any movement from the family room. Can you give me an idea how to make the French doors more private without blocking all of the light that passes through the glass from room to room? I don’t want to replace the doors because they help make the small rooms feel more spacious. Thanks!

How about hanging sheers on either side of the door, that way your students and you will still get light coming through and the privacy you seek.

Hi Laura. They is a privacy film product you can buy that has frosted designs. It comes in a roll so you can cut the pieces to size. You then use a special spray to get it to adhere. I found it at my local home improvement store.

You can cover the glass panes with frosted/translucent contact paper. Or you can spray paint the glass with frosted spray paint.

How about changing the glass to mirrors, not every piece just some of them?

Hi! I love non adhesive window film for glass windows! It is available on Amazon, in local stores, etc. The number of colors, patterns etc. Is amazing!

I LOVE the window film but find that its way too expensive for me. So I make my own! I use thin fabric (personally I like white with a white on white pattern) so it doesn't block out the light. I measure & cut the fabric to size, then soak it in ironing starch. Then apply to window using the same technique you apply a screen protector to your phone, eliminating bubbles along the way. Once dry it gives the perfect balance of privacy & light. AND its totally removable so its also renter friendly! Hope it helps! 🙂👍
