Brooch Bouquet Reveal!

This may not be a 'home improvement' post but I thought I'd share it nonetheless. I've been working on this bouquet for my daughter for months. I had a ball gathering vintage as well as new brooches, family heirloom brooches and even incorporating the necklace I wore on my wedding. It all came together this past weekend and was worth every minute, every broken fingernail and every sore finger that I encountered.
The stem of the bouquet was highlighted with faux pearl pins that were hot glued to insure they stayed in place. I debated using ribbon, but opted for the 'bling' instead wrap instead. It turned out to be a good choice and worked perfectly with my daughter's dress.
One of my favorite brooches is the one on the right that is shaped like a leaf. It was purchased at an antique store last summer. It ended up losing a rhinestone but happily I had one that was just the right size and shape and was able to replace it. Whew!
Many of the brooches were purchased at Brimfield, the large antique fair in Massachusetts that takes place three times a year. If you've never been and are a fan of antiques and/or unusual items, it's a worthwhile trip from anywhere.
Some of the 'brooches' aren't brooches at all, but rather earrings, buttons, hair clips or combs. Anything that can be wired can be used, which opens up a whole new world of possibilities!
