Picture of the floor after taking the carpet up. It doesn’t appear to have any finish on it and appears to be in descent condition
Which is better on hardwood floors Tung oil or polyurethane ?
Stripping a hardwood floor, weighting which would be a better finish. Love the look of tung oil but does it protect as well as a poly finish?

Here is some information regarding finishing your floors with tung oil. Seems that if you did not get all of the previous finish off you might have problems. Maybe it would get blotchy. https://www.realmilkpaint.com/help/tutorials/how-to-finish-a-floor-pure-tung-oil
Polyurethane actually sits on top of the wood, Susie. It will protect the floor better than tung oil.
In my opinion, a poly sealer will last longer and take more abuse. Tung oil has to be reapplied as often as it is cleaned. Best wishes, ☺️
Poly
Poly
Poly. Tung oil or any oil absorbs into the wood but will migrate out. Also will need to be redone often. Will not hold up well.
