Dumdums (wrapped lollipops)
Halloween and candy gets expensive. You can try and buy your candy on sale and then just give one miniature candy bar to each trick or treater. Another inexpensive idea is to buy a giant size bag of Tootsie Rolls and hand out 2 or 3. Most children I know will be appreciative and say thank you for anything they get--regardless of the amount. It is better to buy store bought, wrapped products. I throw away anything that has been rewrapped--examaple--loose candy corn in a sandwich bag--or apples.
I wish you could still hand out pennies, nickels and dimes like I used to get when I was a kid or homemade popcorn balls!! I thought I was rich when I had 50 cents in my bag! That was 50 pieces of penny candy at the little local neighborhood store!
Dollar store has candy. Personally, my kids aren't allowed to eat any homemade treats from strangers. Sadly, people are just too damn weird, it's not safe. If you made treats they would more than likely end up in the trash as i know im not the only parent that feels this way. If you are taking them to a church function or if you live in a small town where everybody knows everybody, popcorn balls and Caramel apples are great! Just make sure the apples aren't waxed ( I learned that the hard way!)
many home baked goods get pitched out, its all wrapped candies now.
Fun size bars of Twix, Kit Kat, Reeses Peanut butter cups, etc. When you run out of candy, turn your light off.
Thank you.
I too never allowed my kids to keep anything that wasn’t store bought and wrapped.
Acutally was looking for Something more NOT A FOOD ITEM.
I have given out temporary tattoos (buy a big pack and split up) and also plastic bugs (same thing - a big pack from Walmart split up). Kids went crazy for both! They get so much candy. We also had a few moms of kids with food allergies thank us for having non food options!
I make charlie brown rocks, halloween pencils from the dollar store, stickers, Halloween erasers etc. The dollar stores have all sorts of cool stuff. Oriental Trading Company has great items too, if you want to order on line.
When I was a kid, lots of people baked items, candy apples, etc. And it was delicious. Unless you live in a tiny town where everyone knows you, all that stuff gets tossed.
Packs of pencils and erasers. Check Dollar Tree and Dollar General. You can also get a big bag of plastic rings to give out.
Kids love stickers and temporary tatoos. Oriental Trading is a good place. Different dollar stores sometimes have them. Good luck. Happy Halloween!
