How do I cover a breeze way hole?
Cover a hole from the garage to the house so the rats won’t travel between floors. It’s the breeze way where the cables are going through from the panel box to the house. So they are in the way iof me just putting up a simple board. Thank you.

The hole was cut too big for the base of the light in kitchen. Need ideas on how to make it go away!😆 House is cabin style.
We used Great Stuff, foam filler spray. Worked great
Fill up with steel wool, they can't chew through that. Also, place cotton balls soaked with peppermint oil and the smell will help drive them away. Just have to replenish as the smell dissipates.
Try stuffing steel wool tightly in the space
Then use some gorilla tape to seal it off.
Steel Wool is your friend. Stuff the hole around the cables. Rats detest steel wool and will not chew on it.
Hi! This stuff is actually to prevent pests from chewing through. Also, if you scroll down the page, you will find copper mesh, which is the mesh recommended by exterminators:

I would use both the steel wool and spray foam. You can also cover the hole with fine wire mesh and fill with spray foam.
If the hole is in concrete or concrete blocks, I would use Quikcrete caulk after stuffing the hole with steel wool. Agree with all the other solutions above.
Steel wool and spray foam is my vote, too.
Thank you all. I’m going for it. I already had bought both the steal wool n the spray foam but given the space I need more thank you all for the great advice.
Try screen or netting
You can also cut up aluminum drink cans and cover the area where they come through.
