Kitchen Island From Recycled Timbers
This kitchen island (extra counter space) was built for a friend of mine. It is composed of 100% recycled timbers - vic ash/tassy oak, red gum, and pine.
*This piece was put together using only timber and glue. No metal fixing i.e screws/nails
Check out how put it all together- it was super fun to make!
First, select the timber you'd like to use for the table/counter top.
Then select the timber for the legs and the support for the table.
Then I dressed, sanded, and cut the timbers to size.
Then I cut out the leg housing- here they are completed.
Here is a photo of the completed frame work (fixed to the underside of table top).
I then glued and clamped the table top.
Here is a photo of the joinery detail with the use of dowels.
And the dowel layout
Legs and supports get glued and clamped. And then, the table is put together and is complete!
Then I applied a beautiful varnish and let it dry.
Man comes to collect! :)
Happy friend, and a happy DIYer, hope you like what I made!
