Go to the part of the store that wraps presents and ask if they will show you. Stores usually just pay their regular people to wrap gifts, so you will not be interfering with the wrappers buisness.
You can also look on utube. Put wrapping presents into search. People love to show off their "skills".
Here is a step by step https://www.realsimple.com/holidays-entertaining/gifts/wrap-present
Here are a few things that I think will help.
1: Put it in a box. If you don't have serious skills, boxes are the only way to go.
2: Measure paper to make sure it is enough to overlap both on the ends as well as across.
3: If you have too much paper, trim so that it isn't bulky when folding.
4: Don't skimp on tape.
5: Run your fingers along the edges to make a crisp fold. I use my index finger and thumb to crease the paper.
6: On the ends; fold in the left and right first, then down from the top, then up from the bottom. On the bottom, fold the "point" down so that it is a line.
7: Ribbon and bows cover a lot of mistakes. However, bows can get mashed down so I usually do ribbon alone.
Gift bags! I usually buy tons of them after Christmas and other holidays for a fraction of the cost. You can fill the top over the gift with pretty tissue paper or other decorative paper fill. Fast, easy, and can be recycled by reusing.
It requires attention and focus, and is easy once you get the hang of it. Here are some easy tutorials.

Or just resort to gift bags from the dollar stores.
Another easy idea is to use the same paper for all your gifts. Then individualize with ribbons, either one colour, or various colours. If you can tie shoe laces you can tie simple bows that are pretty!
Wrap on a table of the proper height. That makes all the difference in how my packages look.
I use brown paper to wrap. Make sure the paper is not to big for your present.
The present then can be decorated with a strip of wide ribbon, or fancy paper. Then add tags and other decorations.
