I bought some feed corn cobs for the squirrels and I am not sure how to put them out for them. I have seen some types of things people made to put them out on. But I am not very handy with tools. Is there another way? And when is the best time to begin putting them out?

Saw it on here, cannot find it. Going to paint kitchen cabinets, would like little pointy tripods for doors to rest on while painting/drying. Thanks y'all!

you can put a long nail on a board and stick the cob on it. or easier, tie a heavy or thick wire around the fat end of the cob and hang it on a tree branch or something similar. believe me they will get to it and you can enjoy their antics in trying to get to it.
Teresa...A board for the tree and a board at the bottom will be a simple one. In the middle of the bottom board drive a long nail or use screw sticking up. The nail/screw it where you put the corn cob. Be careful...you can buy them with little chair/bench for the squirrel to sit in while enjoying the corn at craft shows, even Walmart if I'm not mistaken. Now is a great time plus all year long for us!
Hi Teresa,
Anytime is a good time to start feeding squirrels, just be ready for an onslaught…once you start feeding you will have many many!
The easiest way to put out the full ears of dried corn is to drive pretty good size nails into fence post tops or other wood that you have, perhaps a railing on a deck, or a branch on a tree. Then, use some wire cutters to cut the head off the nail at an angle so that you have a sharp tip on the metal so that you can then push the cob down onto that.
Hope you enjoy their antics, have fun!
Just wrap them with wire(old coat hanger or baling wire) & securely attach(don't hang) to tree limbs. put them where you can watch the antics the squirrels provide. also somewhere you don't mind the stuff on ground although it will probably get eaten by birds or squirrels. you can put them out all year depending where you live and if the squirrels hibernate. Have an old tin pieplate? Toss food in there and set out in your yard. Punch a few holes with a screwdriver or ice pick if it snows where you live. I feed year round and buy peanuts for them. I also feed the birds and they steal from them too. I have 5 humming feeder stations, 6 seed feeders for the birds and a peanut house for the squirrels. Does not require any fancy equipment, a paper plate will do!
Thank you all, what about on the porch
Hi Teresa. I'm Cindy. You can begin feeding the squirrels any time year round but especially in the winter when food is scarce for them. You can put a hole in the corn cob and feed either string or wire thru it. Then hang it somewhere where they have easy access.
Cindy that is the answer, thank you so much!
